Data Extractor is a simple programme which extracts every nth character starting at x from text files for analysis.

Using the Open Text File button on the tool bar, you may open a standard text (.txt) file in the upper pane. Alternatively, you can type in an amount of text in the normal manner. In either case, the size of the data in bytes is displayed on the status bar.

Using the Save Text File button, you may save the contents of the upper pane in text file (.txt) format only.
Using the Close Text File button, the upper pane may be cleared. The opportunity to save any unsaved data is offered.

The Set Parameters button allows you to set the values of x (the start point) and n (the offset).
The Extract Data button performs the extraction and displays the results in the lower pane. The size of the extracted data in bytes is displayed on the status bar.

Using the Clear Output Pane button, clears the lower pane. The opportunity to save any unsaved data is offered.
Using the Save Extracted Data button, you may save the contents of the lower pane in text file (.txt) format only.

There is no file size limit in Data Extractor although your operating system and memory configuration may impose such limits.

Menu options include the opportunity to change the editor font size, along with various help options.
